Harmony Baptist Church supports Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Throughout the year, we collect items to place in shoebox gifts for children in need around the world to share God’s love with them. Some people pack individual boxes and we also pack boxes from the church with donated items. We have created access for those that are unable to shop to pack a shoebox online.
This ministry not only provides a gift to a child, but introduces them to the Gospel of Jesus. In the past few years, our shoeboxes have traveled to Guyana, Benin, Ukraine, South Africa and un-named hard to reach areas. Matthew 28:19 – Make disciples of all the nations. We are Ambassadors for Christ – on a MISSION.
Our Shoebox Ministry is making plans for this year. Please be in prayer as you get prepared to pack boxes. I’d like to share a story about the place our boxes went to this past year. Ambodibibaka is a remote area in eastern Madagascar. When believers went to share the Good News with this village, they were threatened repeatedly. But God wasn’t finished. Prayer and a simple message opened the doors. “We want to bless your children. We want to give each child a gift.” The ones that once rejected now volunteer to carry these “Gospel Opportunities” 6hrs to their village. On the day of outreach, 1500 children and residents gave their lives to Jesus! What a wonderful testimony.
